“Beautiful, breathtaking, gorgeous and amazing are just some of the adjectives used to describe our total house renovation due to a devastating house fire and extreme smoke damage. It was the James R Irvine Construction Company that made these words possible.

James Irvine is no stranger to us. Many years ago he added a unique and spacious addition to our home. A decade later Jim improved our outdated kitchen, giving us a new and fresh update. But last year Jim became our lifesaver when he agreed to undertake a very difficult renovation of our badly damaged family home. A complete gut job was necessary as well as repair of damaged joists before work could begin. In just under a year with careful planning, much hard work and Jim’s very talented subs and their crews we were back in our home…..and all of this took place during a Pandemic!

Thank you Jim and your wonderful crew of talented and hardworking people for making this happen! The result was more than we could have thought possible. Thanks you also for designing a spectacular home to return to……more beautiful than ever!”

“Designing and attaching a 2-story structure to an 1850’s log house is probably  the sort of challenge from which  many contractors would back away.  But, for Jim Irvine, it was a project that was enthusiastically embraced and one in which his attention to detail , expert knowledge,  and decades of experience lead to a beautiful finished product and happy clients!  Jim’s daily visits to the construction site ensured that everything was ALWAYS under control.

Jim listened to our vision and incorporated those ideas, along with practical ones we hadn’t considered, to make our  30+ year dream come true.  He understood our desire to marry the old with the new and has a good working relationship with local, Mennonite craftsmen who were employed to custom-make trim and doors that would match those items in the original log house.

The sub-contractors were all well experienced in their trades and most had been working on Jim’s projects  for 10 years or more.  Many of the sub-contractor’s businesses were local to the Frederick County and Thurmont area.  The workers were always conscientious, friendly, polite and considerate of us and of each other. We truly missed the daily rapport we had with these individuals as their contribution to the process was completed and they moved on to their next job. We highly recommend Jim Irvine for any renovations or home addition project!”

“Jim, I just wanted to take a moment and tell you how delighted we are with the great room addition your company crafted for my wife and I. We have had many “oohs and aahs” from our friends when they have visited. Every person on your team was truly a professional and was courteous and willing to go out of their way to take care of our needs. We felt at ease with having them in our home. It’s hard to find that combination in today’s “slip-shod, let’s see what we can get away with” world. I would highly recommend that anyone looking for superior craftsmanship consider your company. Thanks again.”

“We are most pleased with the quality of the work done on our old (1820) house by James R. Irvine Construction Inc. The cost estimates were fair. Good materials were used. No short cuts were taken. The project evolved along the way and there was no problem with flexibility. We met with Jim Irvine weekly. It speaks well that I actually liked him more as time went on! Jim’s head carpenter was always pleasant. He is careful and skilled and wes almost always on the job and fun to have around. My husband, Henry, and I recommend James R. Irvine Construction Inc. without reservation.”

Project: Home Addition

“Jim Irvine Construction designed and built a three story addition to our home. Jim’s novel design incorporated all of the features we had requested into a new space that integrates almost seamlessly with our existing home. Construction began in the spring of and was complete by early summer despite the inclement weather. Jim’s subcontractors, who have been working for the company for several years were most professional, courteous and their workmanship outstanding. During construction, Jim was on the job site daily and the few problems we did encounter were quickly resolved. Meticulous attention to detail and careful management made the whole experience remarkably painless. We are very pleased with the way the project turned out and continue to enjoy our new addition every day. We would not hesitate to recommend Jim Irvine Construction to others.”

“Jim is very thorough and professional. His crews had to repair a deteriorating building over the course of 5 months. Work included carpentry, roofing, window repair, door replacement, siding repair, and painting. They also installed a concrete patio and trench drain. Jim coordinated with other contractors who were working at the site. He communicated regularly with us about progress, and gave detailed reports on any problems encountered. It was truly a collaborative arrangement and we are very pleased with the results. Several neighbors complimented us. The one who summed it up best said: “Your old house is smiling again.”
